Pirates Secure Playoff Spot Posted: Yesterday
With Campbellfords loss last night to PortHope the Pirates have secured a playoff spot while being up 4 points on Campbellford with only 2 games left for each team the best Campbellford can do is Tie the pirates in points with 41 if Picton loses their remaining 2 games.
The tie breaking rules are if 2 teams are tied at the end of the season the team with the MOST wins overall would get in, if they are tied in wins then it would be the team with the best head to head record.
With Campbellford winning their last 2 games it would only give them 19 wins while Picton sits with 20 with the 1 more win it secures Picton in 4th and they will face Napanee in the 1st round unless the raiders manage to lose all their remaining games and Amherstview wins all theirs. The Pirates finished the 8 game Schedule with Napanee 4-4
10/08/09 Napanee 3 at Picton 4 SO WIN 10/20/09 Picton 4 at Napanee 6 LOSS 10/29/09 Napanee 2 at Picton 4 WIN 11/05/09 Napanee 3 at Picton 0 LOSS 11/17/09 Picton 4 at Napanee 7 LOSS 12/01/09 Picton 3 at Napanee 2 OT WIN 01/05/10 Picton 1 at Napanee 6 LOSS 01/28/10 Napanee 6 at Picton 7 SO WIN
Empire League Helps Haiti Posted: January 29th, 2010
A unanimous vote by the members of the Empire B Jr. C Hockey League (EJCHL) on Monday evening shows just how much we can help in the time of a crisis.
The EJCHL's end of the year banquet has been cancelled this year, instead, a donation of $1000 will be made to the Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. Members of the Amherstview Jets, Campbellford Rebels, Frontenac Flyers, Napanee Raiders, Picton Pirates and the Port Hope Panthers decided it best to support the efforts to help out in a country devastated by a recent earthquake.
A cheque made out to the Red Cross will be presented prior to the face off at the first game of the EJCHL finals. As well, the trophy winners, who would have been unveiled and honoured at the banquet, will be presented with their awards.

Pirates vs Jets Posted: December 14th, 2009
The Picton Pirates (14-11-1) were unable to capitalize on a great road start and fell to the streaking Amherstview Jets on Sunday evening.
After going down 1-0 in the first minute of the first period, Picton was able to get three past 16-year-old Jets goalie Nathan Perry to take a 3-1 lead late in the frame.
Eric Hayes, Jeff Kingdon and Jack Davison were able to find the range as the Pirates took the play in the Amherstview end and kept it there for long stretches.
Cam Cleave almost made it 4-1 late in the stanza, but caught all iron with his top shelf attempt.
Realizing they just dodged a bullet and the game was still up for grabs, the Jets rallied and Adam Sikora dn Brent Gilmour combined on a nice play to make it 3-2 at the end of 20 minutes.
As they did in the first, Picton gave up a goal in the first minute to make it 3-3.
Wil Healey's third of the season came off a crazy carom behind the Jets cage, but the puck settled into Amherstview net at 6:23 to give Picton a 4-3 edge.
The see saw battle would continue with Amherstview getting the next two goals to go up 5-4.
Dylan Leduc scored his first of the evening at 14:28 when he was able to slip the puck past Perry to make it 5-5.
It looked like the teams might make it the second intermission tied, but the Jets had other ideas, scoring twice in the final minute against a beleaguered Trevor Green to make it 7-5.
Haydn McInroy took over for Green in the third and stopped all nine shots sent his way, but the Bucs scoring dried up and Picton was unable to get within one.
The Pirates out shot their opponent 42-32.
Rounding out the scoring, Leduc, Josh Fagan, Steve Csanyi, Davison, Kingdon and Dylan Mountenay had assists.
Picton winds up the 2009 portion of their Empire Schedule on Thursday night at home when they take on the Port Hope Panthers.
Game time is 7:30
